SIDESHOWS FOR SUSTAINABILITY

Using our platform to address the climate crisis we aim to give agency to our audience participants to express their owns concerns as part of the conversation. We believe theatre can be a vehicle for active hope and that the benefits of shared moments can instigate positive change for a better future. Come along and join the eco-revolution ride with ‘Sideshow Roadshow’.

SIDESHOW ROADSHOW

Three Sideshow sweethearts are running away from the circus as environmental catastrophe hits. The Mermaid warns of the rising tide of plastic and the Fortune Teller has had a vision of what's to come. Join this motley crew as they hit the road to convince the collective that it's time to freak out and take eco-emergency action.

CULTURE DECLARES EMERGENCY

Culture Declares Emergency (CDE) is a growing movement of individuals and organisations in the cultural sector declaring a climate and ecological emergency. Its aim is for the sector to be a leading contributor to creating a regenerative future that protects the planet and sustains everyone, everywhere. CDE’s mission is to grow, support and mobilise a movement of declarers in the UK cultural sector, and to inspire and work with others internationally.

Instigated by Norfolk-based cultural practitioners Lucy Enskat (Hocus Pocus Theatre) and Genevieve Rudd (freelance; Under Open Sky), the CDE hub for East of England welcomes cultural practitioners, artists, producers, creatives, heritage workers and activists to declare a climate emergency, establish a local network and meet like-minded individuals and organisations who actively care about the planet.

We have a particular responsibility, as cultural practitioners based in the East of England, to address the climate and ecological crisis. The communities that we work with – as our collaborators, audiences and participants – are experiencing coastal erosion, flooding and rising sea levels.

Join the hub to see how we could work together to reimagine a sustainable and regenerative world.
